JPMorgan Names O’Donovan Head of International Consumer Bank

JPMorgan Chase & Co. named Mark O’Donovan head of its international consumer bank, giving him oversight of the firm’s existing consumer offering in the UK, planned launch in Germany and stake in Brazil’s C6 Bank.

O’Donovan will relocate to London and report to Marianne Lake, head of JPMorgan’s consumer and community banking arm who recently added the international consumer bank and strategic growth to her remit, according to an internal memo Monday. Bregje de Best will succeed O’Donovan as chief financial officer of the commercial and investment bank, and her former co-head of global corporate banking, James Roddy, will take sole control of that business.

The appointments follow the departure of longtime executive Sanoke Viswanathan, who was named the next chief executive officer of data company FactSet Research Systems Inc. earlier this month. He oversaw the launch of JPMorgan’s UK consumer offering, which has over 2.5 million customers, and its purchase of UK digital wealth manager Nutmeg.

O’Donovan will oversee the launch of JPMorgan’s second digital consumer outpost in Germany, as well as expansion into additional markets. He earlier ran the firm’s mortgage and auto businesses, and “played a key role in integrating First Republic,” which JPMorgan bought in a government-led auction in 2023, according to the memo.

De Best and Roddy were named co-heads of global corporate banking last year, reporting at the time to Doug Petno and Filippo Gori, who co-led global banking. Petno was promoted earlier this year to lead the entire commercial and investment bank alongside Troy Rohrbaugh, and John Simmons was elevated to run global banking alongside Gori.
