As is our custom, we conclude the year by reflecting on the most-read practice management articles over the past 12 months. This year’s top five are a diverse mix of topics, with no single theme connecting them to each other beyond the fact that they offer insights for advisors on how to run their offices.
Christine Simone of Caribou claimed the top spot with “Healthcare Mistakes Advisors Make When Clients Retire Early.” The article highlights some of the intricacies of health insurance coverage for individuals retiring before 65 — and before Medicare kicks in.
Street Smart Research Group founder David Leo’s article was the second-most read practice management piece of 2025. “Navigating Success: Essential Strategies for New Financial Advisors” is essentially a crash course for advisors new to the field or looking to go out on their own.
“Stop Planning, Start Executing: 6 Marketing ‘Dos’ for Every Advisor” by Penny Phillips came in third. The article offers advice on how advisors can lay the groundwork for a strong marketing plan.
Longtime Advisor Perspectives contributor Beverly Flaxington saw her column “When Personal Opinion Forces Its Way Into the Office” fall into the No. 4 ranking on the list. The piece advises on how to negotiate the tricky ground that crops up when political views become a sticking point between advisors and clients or between colleagues.
Finally, “How Advisors Can Ready Themselves for Retirement” by Danielle Walker puts an exclamation point on this list. With a mass wave of retirements likely to hit the advisor community, it offers some key considerations advisors looking to the exit the industry should keep in mind.
